I swear, when it rains, it pours & that has been evident in my personal life this past few weeks.
As most of my readers know, I lost one of my 5 greyhounds ~Trigger~ on February 15. It was a sad loss yet one I had accepted and was beginning to heal from.
Last Wednesday, as I was packing up to come home from babysitting my granddaughter, I receive a phone call from my son, saying one of my other greyhounds ~Morgan~ was in distress. I raced home to find him unable to breathe and knew I had to get him to the emergency vet ASAP. Morgan was not going to recover from what appeared to be a "vascular accident" so, with great pain in my heart, I gave him the freedom to fly with the angels & be free of pain.
As hard as we try to love each equally, it's natural that one will grasp your heart a little tighter. Morgan has a tight hold on my heart. Always wanting to be by me, to please me, to comfort me, just content to love me. Morgan was my best friend, my sleeping buddy, my baby & my beautiful boy. He was always funny & made me laugh with his goofy spirit.
I received Morgan when he retired from the Dubuque, Iowa race track in October 2005. He was also a top racer in Wheeling, WV, a track where only the best greyhounds are sent to race. He came into the adoption kennel where he stayed until I was able to bring him home in February of 2006. He immediately took to his litter mate Calamity, that I had already adopted. They were inseparable & great playmates.
Morgan always had a toy near him & usually slept with one under his head.
He had the most beautiful face. I'll never forget looking at his face, in his eyes & touching his soft, white fur.
